About the Author

I'm Dean Ball, a writer focused on artificial intelligence policy and how emerging technologies reshape society and author of the Substack newsletter Hyperdimensional. My work explores the intersection of technology and human flourishing, seeking to understand both the promise and perils of rapid technological change.

Currently, I serve as a Senior Fellow at the Foundation for American Innovation. Previously, I've worked at the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, the Mercatus Center at George Mason University, the Hoover Institution, and elsewhere. Projections is my personal writing space—a place for essays not directly, or at least not mostly, related to AI. The name reflects the inherently interpretive act of making sense of complex systems.
